Ralph Lauren, an American luxury brand, is rumoured to be in talks with Aditya Birla, an Indian clothing retailer, about entering the Indian market, with Ralph Lauren likely to land in the Indian market as a franchise, foreign media reported.
The brand’s first Indian store will be located in the Emporio shopping mall in New Delhi, with stores expected to be available from July to August, according to sources.
According to a report by ASSOCHAM in 2016, the luxury goods market in India, with a population of 1.2 billion, will grow by about 25% year-on-year. As for the incident, some foreign media commented that the incident further proves that South Asia is becoming increasingly attractive to luxury brands.
None of Ralph Lauren, Aditya Birla Group and Emporio Mall had responded to the story as of press time.
